#5: Dandelion, the Golden Flower of Healing

When I was growing up the Dandelions were looked at as weeds that interrupted the landscape of a beautiful green lawn. Part of weeding would be the removal of the Dandelions. But this resilient little plant would always grow back. Now I have come to realize that the same resilience of the Dandelion in nature can be brought to our skin and everyday health.

Early European and Native American cultures recognized the potent medicinal qualities of Dandelions and the nutritional value they bring to our diet. Full of anti-oxidant and antiseptic properties they work to correct symptoms and root causes of many physical afflictions. The Dandelion was a treasured plant that quickly became the most reliable cure all of the time.

Dandelions help heal wounds, act as a digestive aid, are highly nutritious and have diuretic attributes that help cleanse and purify. This superstar in the herb kingdom also contains: Iron, potassium, calcium, boron, silicon, phosphorus and Vitamins A, B, C, and D. Excellent for men, women and children of all ages. Dandelions also contain Linoleic Acid to strengthen the skin protective barrier.

What could be better than adding the dandelion herb to your health program and beginning to receive their benefits on a daily basis. According to Porter Shimer, author of "Healing Secrets of the Native Americans":

"Dandelion has so many medicinal uses that it’s impossible to list them all."

Dandelion can be prepared as a tea, added to smoothies and salads, steamed and eaten as a side dish…the flowers can even be sautéed in butter for a tasty treat. Add a little honey to your tea or drink plain. The idea is to find a way that works for you. A plant that seems to be able to root anywhere and have a strong deep connection to the earth has a great grounding energy. When used frequently the energy properties of Dandelion have healing aspects that bring clarity, focus and well-being.

Here are the powerful ways Dandelions can protect and improve health:

Strengthens overall immune system

Flushes and cleanses the body

Aids with digestion

Improves bone health

Helps with cognitive thinking

Can work to relieve respiratory problem

Reduces swelling and inflammation

Promotes faster healing

Works to lower blood pressure

Offers sugar control

Provides Liver support

Dandelions work to strengthen the skin cells and make them more responsive to skin correcting therapies. The infusion of potent anti-oxidants, minerals to hydrate skin tissue and anti-fungal properties all create a perfect canvas for rejuvenating skin and creating a natural glow to smooth healthy skin.

Two HZW units are pictured below, the Diamond Oxy Peel & Lift and Diamond Medi Sculpt. Both are excellent for stimulating healthy cells and dermis for optimum skin care results.

As society rediscovers the benefits of plants, certain herbs move to the forefront. The accessibility, pleasing taste, and healing attributes of dandelions make them one to watch.

Be well,
